As Fambul Tok continues to increase its reconciliation activities in Sierra Leone there is a need to expand its capacity. The project created three new units — Research and Documentation, Training, and Communication — to undertake the new intensity.
The R&D unit is managed and led by Sheku Kormoa, a graduate of Njala Univeristy in Bo District. Mr. Kormoa is fortunate to have assistance from two young aspiring professionals — Momodu Kamara and Jonta Alghali. The main mission of R&D unit is to document all project related activities, ceremonies, research, and monitor and evaluate the project.
The Training unit is Fambul Tok’s foundation. It’s the hub where the project’s reconciliation message is transferred to the communities. Communities rely on the material before any ceremonies or Fambul Tok activities take place. They are an active group that is constantly on the road doing trainings. The unit is lead by Francis Onyekwue, a Nigerian citizen who has been residing in Sierra Leone for the last 15 years. Sheku Konneh a former part-time teacher is assisitng Francis.
Last week the training unit embarked on a one-week workshop with the Moyamba contact people (Fambul Tok community leaders) on Trauma Healing, Communication, and Reconciliation.
The heartbeat of the project is the Communication unit. It educates, informs, and disseminates Fambul Tok activities to the Sierra Leone and International audiences. Moreover, they produce monthly newsletters for all natioal media houses. The unit is managed and led by renowned Sierra Leone broadcaster, Reginald Strasser and assisted by Solomon Yarjoh.
